The inaugural Eddleman Quantum Institute (EQI) Graduate Student Tutorial Workshop, held on June 12–13 at the Ayres Hotel in Costa Mesa, was a resounding success. Hosted by the UCI team and collaboratively organized by graduate students across all three EQI campuses—UC Irvine (UCI), UC Santa Barbara (UCSB), and Caltech—this student-led event kicked off a new annual tradition. The workshop was designed to help graduate students meet, build networks, and learn about cutting-edge quantum research in our groups. The two-day event featured five graduate student presenters from each affiliated campus, giving attendees a comprehensive look at the diverse quantum science being explored across our network. Thanks to an incredible turnout and highly engaged sessions, the workshop successfully cultivated the collaborative spirit that defines our joint institute. Building on this fantastic momentum, UCSB will be responsible for hosting next year’s annual EQI workshop!

We would like to give sincere thanks to our EQI faculty and postdoctoral scholars who made this event possible. We are very grateful to William Evans and Jenise Shourds at UCI for helping organize this event, as well as to the faculty advisors at UCSB, Stephen Wilson, and at Caltech, Andrei Faraon. In addition to faculty support, we’d like to recognize the contributions of UCSB postdoctoral scholar Steven Crisostomo toward planning and running the workshop.
