2025 EQI Balleroy Workshop

The workshop, “Interactive Matter and Quantum Measurement Dynamics: Exploring New Frontiers in Quantum Control,” was held September 4-7, 2025, at the Château de Balleroy in Normandy, France. The purpose of this leadership retreat, sponsored and supported by the Eddleman Quantum Institute at UC Santa Barbara, was to assemble a small group of leading experimental and theoretical physicists to explore the emerging discipline of "quantum interactive matter," in which properties and dynamics of many-body quantum systems are fundamentally shaped by measurement and feedback. Participants were asked to define the key scientific questions in this emerging discipline; identify the most promising experimental and theoretical approaches; advance our understanding of measurement-driven and feedback-altered quantum dynamics; and foster collaboration within and between diverse experimental and theoretical communities.
